Justin Bieber e Megan Thee Stallion lideram nomeações dos MTV VMAs 2021
A MTV já divulgou os nomeados para os VMAs 2021, reunindo artistas cujo impacto cultural e trabalho ao longo do ano passado transformou a indústria da música e teve a capacidade de gerar um diálogo global. Em Portugal, os MTV VMAs 2021 vão ser transmitidos ao vivo na MTV Portugal a partir das 23:30 no dia 12 de setembro, domingo, com o pré-show, sendo que a gala arrancará a seguir, à 01:00, já na madrugada de segunda-feira, 13 de setembro.
Justin Bieber, com sete nomeações, lidera a lista dos indicados deste ano, seguido de perto por Megan Thee Stallion, com seis, e por Billie Eilish, BTS, Doja Cat, Drake, Giveon, Lil Nas X e a estreante Olivia Rodrigo, com cinco cada. À semelhança da jovem Olivia Rodrigo, também outros artistas do MTV Push recebem, pela primeira vez, múltiplas nomeações, como é o caso de The Kid LAROI e 24kGoldn.
Este ano, os MTV VMAs regressam à cidade de Nova Iorque e serão transmitidos ao vivo a partir do Barclays Center em toda a pegada global da MTV, incluindo plataformas lineares e digitais em mais de 180 países e territórios, alcançando cerca de 400 milhões de lares em quase 30 idiomas diferentes.
A partir de hoje, os fãs poderão votar nos seus artistas favoritas em 14 categorias de género neutro, incluindo Video of the Year, Artist of the Year, Best Collaboration e muito mais em vma.mtv.com até ao dia 3 de setembro, sexta-feira. A votação para Best New Artist, apresentada através do Facebook, permanecerá ativa durante o espetáculo no dia 13 de setembro de 2021. As nomeações para as categorias de social media, incluindo Best Group e Song of Summer serão anunciadas posteriormente.
Para esta edição, a MTV estabeleceu uma parceria com Marlene Marmolejos (@motionmami), Aja Walton (@ajackdannie) e Fred Sands IV (@IVormerlyknownas) para anunciar as principais categorias, incluindo Video of the Year e Artist of the Year através dos seus próprios meios de comunicação e talentos: desde a arte digital até à nail art.
Os MTV VMAs 2021 serão um dos primeiros eventos com fãs em Nova Iorque desde a reabertura da cidade. A saúde e segurança dos artistas, fãs, colaboradores e parceiros continuam a ser a prioridade número um, pelo que a MTV e o Barclays Center estão a trabalhar em estreita colaboração com as autoridades estaduais e locais para implementar as melhores práticas com o fim de reunir, com a máxima segurança, fãs de música de todo o mundo na assistência. Os protocolos atuais de saúde e segurança do Barclays Center podem ser encontrados aqui, sendo que eventuais protocolos adicionais serão anunciados numa data mais próxima do evento.
A MTV está também a colaborar com a 9/11 Day, a organização sem fins lucrativos que criou e lidera o reconhecido September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance, no desenvolvimento de uma série de atividades de solidariedade durante a semana que vai anteceder os VMAs 2021, promovendo a conscientização e ações positivas em comemoração do 20.º aniversário do 11 de setembro.
